Find Your Wind

Learning to Fly Your Balloon

Learning to Fly: A Journey of Faith

Flying a hot air balloon begins long before it leaves the ground. The pilot prepares the equipment, checks the conditions, and gets ready for the journey ahead.

Our journey of faith begins in much the same way. We prepare our hearts through prayer, God’s Word, and a willingness to follow His direction. Just as a balloon must be inflated and heated before it can rise, our faith must move beyond preparation and into action. Eventually, we must be willing to lift off, trusting God enough to take the next step even when we cannot see the entire journey ahead.

Once airborne, the pilot learns to navigate the wind, manage the burner, and make adjustments along the way. We cannot control every circumstance in life, just as a balloon pilot cannot control the wind. But we can seek God’s wisdom, remain faithful through changing conditions, and learn when to act, when to persevere, and when to be patient, Faith is not about trying to force every outcome or maintaining maximum effort every day; it is about trusting God through uncertainty, managing out strength wisely, and remaining open to His direction when the journey takes an unexpected turn.

Eventually, every flight must land. The pilot brings the balloon down safely, secures the equipment, and reflects on the experience before preparing for the next flight. Our walk of faith also requires us to recognize when a season is ending, finishing our responsibilities with integrity, and reflect on what God has taught us. We can release yesterday’s disappointments, give thanks for His faithfulness, and prepare for tomorrow with a renewed purpose.

Learning to fly by faith means preparing with intention, taking action with courage, navigating with wisdom, trusting God’s timing, and learning from every season. We may not control the wind, but we can choose to walk with God through every part of our journey!
